More exp trains may stop at Edappally stn
The demand that Alappuzha-Kannur-Alappuzha executive express and ShoranurThiruvananthapuram-Shoranur Venad express stop at Edappally railway station may soon become a reality .
On the hartal day called by BJP last week, the Thiruvananthapuram railway authorities had given temporary permission for the Alappuzha-Kannur executive express to stop at Edappally railway station. Nearly 75 passengers had boarded the train from Edappally on that day. Traffic inspectors and senior railway authorities are of the opinion that a stop at Edappally, at least on a trial basis, can be provided for both the executive and Venad express trains.
“I personally met the Southern Railway chief operations manager S Anantharaman on Friday and requested to allot the stops. He said that he would look into the matter and do the needful,“ said R D Manikandan, convener, Edappally Railway Passengers' Association. It is reliably learnt that the Thiruvananthapuram railway division authorities have started analyzing the possibility of allotting a stop for executive express.
According to passengers, stop for Venad and executive trains at Edappally would be highly beneficial for regular passengers as well as for those who visit the nearby hospitals and Ernakulam collectorate.
