Thrissur Railway Passengers' Association, TRPA is the confluence of all the stake holders who are interested in the development of Railway facilities in and around Thrissur. Naturally, all the people who avail Railway facilities from Thrissur and other neighbouring stations are automatically the members of this association. Due to the historic reasons, commuters from Thrissur towards Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Palakkad sides form the active group. TRPA always stands for meeting the public demands and this process is well supported by Railway Men, Political Leaders and the Media in Thrissur. The tireless efforts by TRPA in achieving the long standing basic requirements of Thrissur are well recognised and appreciated by one and all. TRPA is committed to continue its service to the society at large, cutting across all divisions. "Our prime focus is on the sustainable improvement of rail service in the country to world class levels with special emphasis on Thrissur"

  1. In the Time Table ( being released) Chennai Egmore up/down trains have stoppage at Kollengode alone between PGT Town and Pollachi. For Up and Down Amritha Express ( extended to Madurai ) has no stoppage at Kollengode.
Amritha Express, both up n down must have stoppage at Kollengode.
Its fine that Chennai Egmore and Amritha Express get extended as desired by the Palakkad Division and the travelling public. These trains must have stoppages at Kollengode as well as Puthunagaram between PGT Town and Pollachi. Both Kollengode and Puthunagaram stations will be convenient for passengers in the a big enclave of PGT_Thrissur district covering many towns and villages. Probably people in Thrissur can board on/alight from at Kollengode station since they may find it convenient to travel by road for 2 hours to/from Kollengode (Oottara) Railway station in Palakkad district. Southern Railway must have data relating the passenger patronage of these two stations during the days of M.G trains.
I found that no stoppage is granted to Udumalaipettai ( between Pollachi and Palani) for the Up/down Amritha Express. Stoppage must be granted there as Udumalaipettai is a big town with many industries and Wind Mill Power generation companies. Hundreds of traders and businessmen travel between Udumalaipettai and towns in Kerala. It is to be noted that Chennai Egmore train, presently to/fro Palani is having stoppage at Oddanchatram ( between Palani and Dindigul), the town famous for Vegetable Trade. Thus Amritha too must have stoppage at Oddanchatram.

  2. Pilgrim and business passengers would have delighted if the much talked about Trains viz. Palakkad – Rameswaram ( on the lines of the previous MG Fast passenger Train ) as well as Mangalore – Rameswaram and Ernakulam - Rameswaram Trains. In fact these trains were proposed by Palakkad division itself in July,2016. These trains are on the anvil even while the fresh Time Table comes out in July,2016!. If there are constraints to introduce separate trains ( to/fro ERnakulam/Mangalore) , the pair train between Rameswaram can be scheduled as a single train ( for amalgamation/bifurcation at Shoranur Junction). Passengers towards/from Guruvayur must be given connection train for the short journey of half an hour from/to Thrissur. It is desirable that Palakkad- Rameswaram Up and Down train is introduced as Late Night FP with Sleeper Class and 3A bogies (drawing a parallel to FP train during the MG era between Palakkad junction and Rameswaram) to facilitate convenient and budget-travel to pilgrims from Palakkad district who are the majority in number among pilgrims of Kerala to temple towns like Palani, Madurai and Rameswaram. MoR must consider the introduction of the above proposed Rameswaram Trains in this year itself if rakes are made available for the same.
