No takers for concierge service at Ekm Junction

Six months have passed since Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) launched concierge service a prepaid facility that helps rail passengers hire a coolie or a taxi among other things at Ernakulam Junction station. But the service is yet to make any real impact.
Ernakulam Junction is one of the 26 major stations in the country and the only station in the state that has this service. The service offered are hiring a coolie, getting train running status information, ordering food en route, arranging a taxi, dropping passenger to hisher residence or hotel, etc. These are considered as premium facilities and will entail a nominal charge per service.
“While the concierge service is receiving warm response in metropolises, the facility hasn't made a mark in Ernakulam. Only a hand ful of passengers have availed the service. At present, we provide the service only to passengers who come by a few long-distance trains.Once the service is extended to more trains, we hope that more passengers will start using the facility,“ said IRCTC sources.
In Ernakulam, the service is offered to passengers of Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Duronto Express (train no 12284), Mumbai LTT-Ernakulam Junction Duronto Express (train no 12223) and Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvanan thapuram Central Rajdhani Express (train no 12432).
The facility can be booked online or through counters. For pickups, the passenger will get an SMS on the registered mobile about the details of the person and a designated place in the stationplatform premises where the vehicle would be parked.
“As part of tourism projects, we have already joined hands with various reliable and reputed taxi providers and hotels,“ said a senior IRCTC officer.
